EPA has started issuing Hanifaru Access Tokens
According to the Hanifaru Protection and Preservation Regulation (No.23-R/2012), we have started issuing Hanifaru Tokens to resorts, safari boats and tour operators sending tourists to Hanifaru Marine Protected Area.
Cabinet approves the Implementation Plan to declare Maldives as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve
The Implementation Plan to declare Maldives as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve has been approved by the Cabinet today. This Plan was compiled in response to President of Maldives Dr. Mohamed Waheed’s announcement to declare the whole of the Republic as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve by the end of 2017, at the 1st Plenary meeting of the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, RIO+20 meeting held in Rio De Jenairo, Brazil on 20th June 2012.
