Free Souvenir to all Hanifaru visitors
The BR Office is delighted to inform that all visitors to the protected area of Hanifaru from mid-November onwards will receive a free official souvenir. This souvenir will have a stamped date stating when the visitor was at Hanifaru, also carries the logo of the Baa Biosphere Reserve and contact information of the Office as well.
Resumption of Ranger Service at Hanifaru
The BR Office wishes to inform all parties that effective from 2 November 2013 onwards Rangers will be once again at work in the Hanifaru Marine Protected Area and access to Hanifaru MPA will only be allowed as per the Hanifaru Management Plan 2012.
Ranger services had been interrupted this season due to issues with the speed boat which was used and other unforeseen circumstances which had come our way during this season.
The BR Office wishes to apologize for the interruption of ranger services and for any inconvenience that may caused due to this. We hope that with the acquisition of the new speed boat “atoll ranger 1” we shall be able to work more effectively in managing and monitoring of the biosphere reserve.
Ranger Vessel leaves Male' to Baa Atoll
The newly acqquired ranger vessel named “atoll ranger 1” left Male’ today to Baa atoll to start work at the Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve Office after completing the test engine run and upon receiving the safety certificate from the Transport Authority of Maldives.
“Atoll Ranger 1” will be stationed at Eydhafushi tied with the BR Office and will be used by the Office in managing and monitoring of Baa Atoll.
