BR OFFICE meets SAMPA Consultant.

Dr Anthony Rouphael, a marine scientist who has key expertise in design and implementation of management programs for marine environments and marine protected area planning has met with EPA, Environment Department and BR Office and Baa Atoll Conservation Fund.
 
The Consultant will be here in the Maldives from 9-13 May 2017. He is hired under Project REGENERATE as a consultant to assist the Government of Maldives to formulate a management plan for South Ari Marine Protected Area (SAMPA). The work undertaken by the Consultant is in the stage 1 of this process which is gathering all the necessary information required to formulate the management plan. This involves finding out what is known and unknown about the social uses, governance and ecology of the MPA and incorporate these information in the management plan.
 
The key purpose of his visit this time was to identify the management objectives for SAMPA and ensure that these objectives are aligned with the management priorities of the government.
 
The Consultant during his mission will also meet Ministry of Tourism and Maldives Whale Shark and Reserach Programme.
 

PS of Environment Ministry meets BR Staff

Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Environment and Energy Mr.Ajwad Musthafa together with the Senior Policy Executive Dr.Abdulla Naseer has met with the staff of Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve Office today.
 
Also present in the meeting were Director General of EPA Mr.Ibrahim Naeem and Managing Director of Baa Atoll Conservation Fund Mr.Abdulla Shibau.
 

Baa Atoll Guest House Forum

The newest resource users of Baa atoll came together today at a a special forum organized by Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve Office today where representatives from 9 Guest  Houses operating in Baa Atoll were present.
 
Chief policy Executive of the Ministry of Environment and Energy Dr.Abdulla Naseer, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry aand Mr.Ajwad Musthafa were in attendance at the Forum special Gusets.
 
The Opening ceremony of the Forum was also attended by the Vice President of Atoll Council Mr.Mabrook Naseer and the Director General of EPA Mr.Ibrahim Naeem.
 
Presentations by Baa Atoll BR Office. Environmental Protection Agency, Environment Ministry, Manta Trust, Oilve Ridley Project and Regional Waste Management was given at the Forum.
As the closing act of the Forum a panel discussion was held together with the participants and the resource persons present at the event.
