Financial Consultant meets BACF
The Financial Consultant,who has been contracted by #IUCN Maldives under the #REGENERATE Project implemented by Ministry of Environment and Energy #MEE has met with Baa Atoll Conservation Fund #BACF today. During the meeting Dr.Francis Vorhies was briefed on how the Fund works, achievements of the Fund, and the challenges faced as well.
Dr. Francis is tasked with formulating a financial mechanism for the proposed concept of Maldives as Biosphere Reserve.
Training Workshop on CITES for Customs Officers undertaken
A Training Workshop on CITES #CITES for Maldives Customs Officers was held on 3rd August 2017 and the training programme was completed by 32 staff from relevant departments of Maldives Customs Service. The workshop was Organized and facilitated by the Ministry of Environment and Energy.
* CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) is an international agreement between governments. Its aim is to ensure that international trade in specimens of wild animals and plants does not threaten their survival.
Maldivian Football Legend visits Hanifaru
Maldivian Football Legend, (L) Moosa Manik (Kuda Moosa) visited Hanifaru Marine Protected Area today. Kuda Moosa who had a very successful career as a Player in the 80's and 90's played for New Radiant Sports Club, Club Valencia, Hurriyya and Orchid Sports Club. He captained the National Football Team, Club Valencia and New Radiant Sports Club in his playing days and and after retiring coached Hurriyya and New Radiant Sports Club.
We wish to thank Kuda Moosa who is also a silver medalist at the 1991 SAFF Games for visiting Hanifaru MPA and hope that more and more locals would turnup to experience the true beauty of Hanifaru Bay.
