Temporary Closure of Hanifaru Marine Protected Area
Hanifaru Marine Protected Area will be closed for visitors from 8am to 12pm on 9th and 10th June 2013. Environmental Protection Agency has closed the area to facilitate the field trip of the students of Eco-Care Soneva Nature Trip.
According to Clause 15 of Hanifaru Protection and Preservation Regulation EPA has discretion to close the Hanifaru Marine Protected Area for Education and Research purposes.
Disruption of BR Services
The BR Office would like to inform all parties that there will be a slight disruption of services provided by the Office from June onwards as we are in the process of re-locationg the Office premises. We deeply apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to our partners and are hopeful that the process of relocation would be completed by the end of the month.
Hanifaru Tour Guide Registration 2013
The Environmental Protection Agency has opened the submission of application for Hanifaru Tour Guide Registration from 8 May 2013. According to the Hanifaru Protection and Preservation Regulation (2012/ R-23) all the tour guides working in Hanifaru Marine Protected Area must be certified by EPA.
The Certification consists of a registration examination. The date, time and venue of the exam will be informed after the submission of the registration forms. A registry of the applicants and status of the application will be made available by EPA.
EPA has extended the validity of Temporary Permits given in season 2012; thereby these permits will expire from 1 January 2014.
