Upcoming Eid Holidays
BR Office wishes to inform all that the Office will be closed during the upcoming Hajj and Eid Holidays beginning 15/16/17 June 2018 and advise all to make the necessary arrangements prior to the holiday period in relation to acquisition of Hanifaru Access Permits.
Haniifaru Access Permits are available from Ministry of Environment and Energy and Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve Office in Eydhafushi during office hours.
Therefore those who wish to purchase Hanifaru Access Permit should do so before the holiday period and should you require any assistance on this matter please do not hesitate to call BR Office or Ranger hotline 7905949 on this matter.
Although BR Office will be closed during the holidays Ranger services will be provided throughout the holiday period.
We also wish to inform all to call the Ranger HOTLINE 7905949 prioir to visiting Hanifaru Protected Area.
World Ocean's Day
Today is World Oceans Day and today comprise of an annual observation to honor, help protect, and conserve the world's oceans. The ocean provides us with many resources and services including oxygen, climate regulation, food sources, medicine, and more. World Oceans Day also provides an opportunity to take personal and community action to conserve the ocean and its resources.
We at BR office salute all those involved in making our oceansa better place fro all.
Atoll Council signs MOU with Hithaadhoo Council
A second MOU has been signed between the Secretariat of Hithaadhoo Council and Secretariat of Baa Atoll Council in managaing the protected area of Olhugiri today. Under the MOU signed between the two parties today Hithaadhoo Council will be working together in managing the protected area of Olhugiri together with BR Office and EPA.
Baa Atoll Council and Thulhaadhoo Council also signed an MOU yesterday in managing the PA. Hithaadhoo and Thulhaadhoi being the two neighbouring islands of the protected area, they will now take a hands on approach in managing the area using a community based management approach working with Atoll Council, EPA and BR OFFICE.
